Program Overview
• Collision of theta-pinch generated FRCs initiates self-confining plasma target (FRC)
• 20 MW of NBs heat plasma and drive current
• Edge electrodes stabilize and confine plasma
and provide additional heating
Program Goals
• Demonstrate plasma parameter ramp up via NB heating and current drive • Achieve high electron temperature in the plasma edge and core regions
• Develop plasma control on long time scales; > vessel L/R & plasma confinement time • Explore a range of plasma parameters to confirm TAE energy confinement scaling
