Modeling Fast Ion Diagnostics
• Fast ion dynamics in FRCs make direct interpretations of diagnostic signals difficult
• Monte Carlo (MC) simulations can be used to construct forward models of observable fast ion behavior:
• FIDA – combining MC and FIDASIM allows for a powerful predictive tool (see poster by L. Morton, Session VP13)
• NPA – MC can estimate NPA signals along different lines-of-sight
• Neutron emission – MC can simulate beam- thermal and beam-beam fusion rates
