Equilibrium Fast Ion Mapping
• Beam ions are injected at a singular energy (for the primary component), and are born with a small spread in P, shown as a blue dot
• With time, slowing down and collisional processes spread out the fast ion distribution in both E and Pθ-space (population after ~10 ms shown in white contours)
• Notably, collisional effects can cause fast ions to cross topological boundaries!
