We are proud to announce that TAE has been chosen as the first private fusion energy company to partner with ITER Organization, the world’s largest fusion experiment. Together, we will work to advance the development of fusion power and a well-trained workforce.
We recently had the pleasure of hosting ITER Director General Pietro Barabaschi at TAE’s California HQ to tour our original fusion prototype and current fifth-generation National Laboratory-scale machine, Norman.
We look forward to a fruitful collaboration for a cleaner, brighter future

Did you know that #fusion is the process that powers the Sun and other stars? Fusion #energy is environmentally friendly, safe, and capable of sustaining the planet for thousands of years.
NAMIC Singapore had the opportunity to visit TAE Technologies, Inc at its #California premises and witnessed their latest generation #aneutronic fusion platform. Named after the late co-founder and pioneer, Dr Norman Rostoker, who founded the company in 1998 as a spin-off from University of California Irvine, the platform combines TAE’s proprietary power management technology and advanced beam-driven field-reversed configuration (FRC) plasma for compact and efficient operations.
Under development, the Copernicus is their 6th generation fusion platform and will be another major step in the world of fusion power. #AdditiveManufacturing will play a major role, using Copper-based and refractory metal alloys for the fabrication of unibody parts with complex geometries and optimised performance, enabling successful fusion plasma sustainment.
TAE Technologies has two other units, TAE Power Solutions and TAE Life Sciences, derived from their fusion technology. TAE Life Sciences has developed a Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) system, based on TAE’s expertise on particle accelerators from the fusion platform. This non-invasive, biologically targeted particle therapy uses precise neutron beams to help in cancer therapy and is currently undergoing patient trials. TAE Power Solutions focuses on power management systems developed on the C-2W/Norman reactor for the electric vehicle charging infrastructure and energy storage markets.
We are excited to witness first-hand the advancement in fusion technology. The prospect of #clean energy enabled by fusion technology will hopefully lead to humanity’s first truly sustainable energy source.
Stay tuned!
Thank you for hosting us Vincent P., Elisabeth Siegel, R. David Edelman, Artem Smirnov, David Madura, @Michael Meekins, Chaw Sing HO Kelvin Loke Michelle N.

TAE applauds the passing of the Fusion Energy Act. This legislation represents a strong signal of bipartisan support for fusion power as a source of carbon-free energy. It confirms the clear regulatory path that designates fusion as separate from fission set by regulators last year, and promotes the safety of fusion devices. Thank you to the sponsors, Reps. Lori Trahan, Don Beyer, Chuck Fleischmann, Jay Obernolte and Senators Alex Padilla, John Cornyn, Cory Booker, Todd Young and Patty Murray.
Bipartisan E&C Leaders Applaud Passage of Historic Nuclear Energy Package

One year after publishing the world’s first measurements of a magnetically confined hydrogen-boron fusion plasma, TAE and Japan’s National Institute for Fusion Science have completed another round of successful joint p-B11 experiments 🎉
Hydrogen-boron, or p-B11, is the cleanest, safest and most sustainable fuel choice available for fusion. By testing this fuel source with NIFS’ Large Helical Device, TAE can optimize its technology and accelerate delivery of hydrogen-boron fusion to the world.
For this month’s experiments, TAE’s Chief Science Officer Toshiki Tajima and VP of Program Management and Science Fellow Hiroshi Gota traveled to Japan to work side by side with the NIFS team, including NIFS’ Director General, Professor Zensho Yoshida, and NIFS’ Executive Director of the LHD Project, Professor Masaki Osakabe, pictured above.
The more we learn about the potential of hydrogen-boron fusion, the more excited we are about its future benefit to humanity

TAE on Track for Billion-Degree Hydrogen-Boron Fusion by Early 2030s
Some fusion projects aim to create hundred-million degree working temperatures in magnetically confined plasma. The CEO of TAE Technologies tells us his team’s aiming for 10 times that temperature, targeting cheaper, easier and safer boron fuel.

This Google-Backed Fusion Reactor Must Run 8 Times Hotter Than the World’s Largest Tokamak
The world has been watching the many nuclear fusion tokamak experiments with keen interest, but the stage is also set for those who are trying something a bit different, like stellarators and other reactor formats. That’s where TAE Technologies comes in.

Corporations Join the Nuclear Fusion Craze
Nuclear energy is having a moment. Last month, TAE Technologies Inc., a nuclear fusion company in southern California, raised $250 million. Industry watchers describe the company’s approach, which requires creating a fusion reaction in incredibly high heat, as perhaps the biggest scientific gamble in the field.

Nuclear Fusion Powers Stars. Could It One Day Electrify Earth?
Some companies are exploring different fuels as well as different designs. California-based TAE Technologies, which has been in business since 1998, is building a nuclear reactor that’s designed to fuse hydrogen with boron-11 by colliding plasma “smoke rings” inside a long, cigar-shaped chamber. This setup would need to hit temperatures even higher than those in tokamaks. But if scaled-up versions work, they could generate electricity without the neutron fusillade.

TAE Plots Irvine Expansion
TAE Technologies in Foothill Ranch is one step closer to making its ambitious dream of tapping into almost limitless supplies of energy come true, and is expanding its operations to Irvine to help move those plans forward.

Fusion Energy Leader TAE Technologies Welcomes Marco Arese to Board of Directors
TAE Technologies is pleased to announce the re-appointment of Marco Arese to its Board of Directors. Arese brings a wealth of entrepreneurial experience activating global capital, scaling international business, and cultivating renewable energy opportunities, all of which he will leverage on behalf of the company as it continues commercialization of its transformational technologies.

TAE Technologies Gains Renewed Admission into DOE INCITE Program to Further Fusion Energy Research
TAE Technologies’ modeling group has won a 2018 US Department of Energy INCITE (Innovative and Novel Computational Impact on Theory and Experiment) award on the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility’s Theta supercomputer. The award is for 31MCH (million core hours), which is equivalent to 100MCH on ALCF’s Blue Gene supercomputer, Mira, and will be used to accelerate our research in creating clean fusion energy.

TAE Technologies Welcomes Secretary of Energy Rick Perry on Tour of World’s Leading Private Fusion Energy Facility
TAE Technologies recently welcomed the Department of Energy and Secretary Rick Perry for a tour of our National Laboratory-scale platform, Norman. “It was an honor to host the Secretary and share with him our enthusiasm for the opportunities our fusion pathway can provide,” said CEO Michl Binderbauer.

TAE Technologies Appoints New Executive Leadership
TAE Technologies is proud to announce new executive appointments to lead the next phase of the company’s growth: Michl Binderbauer has been named Chief Executive Officer, assuming leadership from retiring CEO Dr. Steven Specker. Former GE Chairman and CEO Jeffrey R. Immelt joins the company’s Board of Directors.
