5th Fusion HPC Workshop

This workshop covers all computer applications using High Performance Computing (HPC) in the field of fusion research. Participants will gain a broad understanding of the status of fusion HPC research internationally by attending presentations by leading researchers on a broad range of topics.

2024 NSBP-NSHP Joint Conference

The National Society of Black Physicists hosts the largest academic meeting of minority physicists in the US, and this year will host its conference in partnership with the National Society of HispanicPhysicists. This year’s conference theme is “Merging Nuclei – Creating Stronger Forces,” and will consist of educational sessions, exhibitions, a career fair, and poster sessions on current trends in physics and science.

Commercial fusion power development is already yielding benefits

Commercial fusion power development is already yielding benefits

Large, state-sponsored efforts and private startups are reporting breakthroughs that many in the industry now think will lead to viable fusion energy. And in developing such fusion power plants, we are creating new technologies and solutions that can reach far beyond the task of energy generation.

66th Annual Meeting of the APS Division of Plasma Physics

The American Physical Society’s Division of Plasma Physics supports physicists working to understand and develop applications for plasmas. The DPP’s annual meeting draws thousands of plasma physicists to share and discuss the latest research and advancements in the field.

2024 US-Japan Workshop on FRC

This workshop has developed from discussions on the high-beta characteristics of FRC (Field-Reversed Configuration) research, which has been pioneered by both Japan and the United States. The aim is to discuss the role of ions with large orbits in magnetically confined plasmas across magnetic confinement systems.

Demonstration of aneutronic p-11B reaction in a magnetic confinement device

August 2024 | K. Ogawa | Nuclear Fusion | Paper

Aneutronic fusion using commonly available fuel such as hydrogen and boron 11 (11B) is one of
the most attractive potential energy sources. On the other hand, it requires 30 times higher
temperature than deuterium–tritium fusion in a thermonuclear fusion reactor condition.
