起業精神と核融合研究

トライ・アルファ・エナジーは、起業精神に基づき核融合研究を行う企業の 一つである。良く問われるのは、何故、如何にして長大な研究を私的資金で 遂行できるのかである。これには、随分と長いお話が背後にあり、それらは 非常に多くの核融合とその隣接領域の広野を試行錯誤し尽くした故ノーマ ン・ロストーカ先生の経験、忍耐、先見、際限なき楽観、社会貢献への飽く なき奉仕精神、そして知的遺産から培われた。彼の知恵と汗が TAE に蓄積さ れた。次の小論により、こうした我々の経験を共有し存立基盤を知って頂く 事で、何が我々を今いる所へと導き、どちらへと駆り立て行くかを理解して 頂けようか。皆様方に共通する使命や背景なる精神について理解を深め、今 後この途轍もない巨大な人類存続にも関わる課題につき、やり取りしたり一 緒に仕事が出来れば幸せである。我々は、ここで提案した方法は単にロスト ーカ先生が出会った一つの道であるに過ぎないと自覚している。

Entrepreneurial spirit and fusion research
(Two articles by the TAE scientists published in Journal of Plasma Fusion Research in Japan)
Tri Alpha Energy is one of the companies that conduct fusion research in the entrepreneurial approach. It is often asked why and how such research in the large scale and long range may be carried out based on private funds. There is a fairly long story behind this, much of which arises from the experiences, perseverance, vision, limitless optimism, inspirational aspiration toward societal service, and legacy of the late Professor Norman Rostoker who went through many trials-and-errors of a vast space of various attempts in fusion and a wide arena of adjacent science and technology. His wisdom and sweat have been accumulated in TAE. The attached authors’ articles try to share with you some experience and our raison d’etre so that it may be better understood what motivates and has driven us to where we stand now and in the future. We appreciate your understanding and hope to share mission and spirit that we outline here and further communicate and work together in order to solve this tremendous and existential task that lies in front of us and challenge us all. Our outlined method, we understand, is but one approach that Professor Rostoker stumbled into.
