FRC Stability Study with NIMROD and HYM Codes

FRC Stability Study with NIMROD and HYM Codes

Nov 2013 |  Posters, Fusion Energy, Fusion Research, Fusion Science, Fusion Technology, Instabilities, Plasma Research, Research Library, Simulation

November 2013 | A. Necas | APS-DPP | Poster

Gyroviscous (GV) stress for weakly magnetized plasma has been implemented in the NIMROD code to study Hall and FLR effects on FRC stability with emphasis on the rotational modes.

FRC edge physics using NIMROD

FRC edge physics using NIMROD

Nov 2012 |  Posters, Edge Control, Fusion Energy, Fusion Research, Fusion Science, Fusion Technology, Plasma Research, Research Library, Simulation

November 2012 | A. Necas | APS-DPP | Poster

We have studied issues related to edge physics of the HPF regime FRC [1] ” using the NIMROD extended MHD code [2].

NIMROD Simulations of FRC Formation, Translation, Merging and Stability

NIMROD Simulations of FRC Formation, Translation, Merging and Stability

Nov 2011 |  Posters, Formation, Fusion Energy, Fusion Research, Fusion Science, Fusion Technology, Plasma Research, Research Library, Simulation

November 2011 | A. Necas | APS-DPP | Poster

We report on progress made in using the NIMROD [2] code to simulate formation, translation and merging of FRCs in the C-2 experiment [1]. This sequence is simulated in 2D and 3D, with and without inclusion of the Hall term.

Neutral Particle Transport in Field Reversed Configurations

Neutral Particle Transport in Field Reversed Configurations

Nov 2010 |  Posters, Fusion Energy, Fusion Research, Fusion Science, Fusion Technology, Plasma Research, Research Library, Simulation, Transport

November 2010 | A. Necas | APS-DPP | Poster

In this work we will present three computational tools to study the neutral particle transport in an FRC. Neutral particleʼs presence lead to CX losses, edge cooling.
