Equilibrium Profiles and Correlation with Instabilities in the C-2 FRC Experiment

November 2011 | B. Deng | APS-DPP | Poster

Plasma equilibrium profiles and fluctuations in the C-2 field reversed configuration (FRC) experiment [M. W. Binderbauer et al, Phys.Rev.Lett. 105, 045003 (2010)] are measured under various operation conditions.

Fast ion diagnostics for the C-2 experiment

November 2011 | S. Korepanov | APS-DPP | Poster

One of the goals of the C-2 experiment [1,2] is to explore FRC sustainment and current drive from neutral beam injection. Studies of the relaxation and confinement of hot anisotropic ions created by the neutral beams are considered to be key elements of the experimental research program.

NIMROD Simulations of FRC Formation, Translation, Merging and Stability

November 2011 | A. Necas | APS-DPP | Poster

We report on progress made in using the NIMROD [2] code to simulate formation, translation and merging of FRCs in the C-2 experiment [1]. This sequence is simulated in 2D and 3D, with and without inclusion of the Hall term.
